Rescued 'n Ready took in at least 9 dogs this year who tested positive for heartworms ... ugh! Poor babies! Heartworm disease is a serious and potentially fatal disease in pets. Statistically, Oklahoma is one of the highest states for heartworm diagnoses, and year-round treatment is often recommended by Oklahoma veterinarians.
