Dogs For Adoption

Lady

To be eligible to apply, you must live within 30 mins of Tulsa,
have a solid
dog/vet reference, and a secure fenced-in yard.

EASY GOING, SWEET NATURED, AFFECTIONATE, FRIENDLY, GENTLE - This dog is amazing. She Emotional Support Animal (ESA) qualities! She would make a great apartment dog since she is quiet, super on leash and lower energy.

Meet our beautiful, tri-colored Smooth Coat Collie/Heeler named Lady. This gorgeous girl is 6 - 7 years old and 50 lbs. We love her Betty Davis eyes! Lady's owner passed away, so she is now in our care, seeking her new, loving and forever home. Upon intake, she was in horrible condition. Her skin was a mess and she seems defeated. She had been in a depressed situation for a long time, but we are thrilled to know her life has changed for the better and it keeps looking up!  It's really hard to capture a good picture of Lady. She always looks so sad, but she is a very happy girl at her foster home. She is animated, loves to please and is ready to share lots of love with her new family.

Lady is friendly, affectionate, gentle and has a very sweet nature. She is very laid back.  Lady is doing great with her foster sister Bella, who is a larger Black Lab mix. She would also be fine as an only dog. She just can be bossy, so living with a more submissive, laid back "Beta" dog would work fine! She would also be fine as an only dog as she is a bit of an attention hog.  Lady is also fine with cats!  Lady is well behaved indoors; she is house trained and crate trained. She loves the companionship of her people and older kids.  Lady is VERY smart. She knows sit and wait. She could learn more too, training is fun! She has a very docile and easy going personality. As you can see, she loves to find the smallest bed in the house to nap on, so cute.

Lady has been around other dogs but will do best with a more laid back dog who is more submissive. She loves to hunt in the yard with her black lab foster sister and enjoys sunning herself too on these wonderful Spring days.  Lady's coat has grown back in beautifully! It's shiny and thicker now, those patches of missing hair are completely gone and she looks beautiful! Before coming to us, she was in rough shape. When her owner was ill, Lady didn't get as much care as she really needed the past couple of years, resulting in some hair loss due to fleas. Being flea free and managing her skin allergies has resulted in a  stunning, colorful and vibrant coat!  Lady is fantastic on leash and really enjoys leash walks. She would do well as an only dog, and an apartment dog. She is quiet inside and as mentioned above, crates very well.  She does have some seasonal allergies which we are managing, but overall, she is a really sweet girl who deserves the perfect home.  Lady was born about February 2017.

Layla

You must live within 30 mins of Tulsa, have a secure, fenced in yard and a solid vet reference. Applicants also must have prior small dog breed experience. Layla can be placed with other dogs her size or under 50 lbs, but no small children under the age of 8 please.

LAP DOG ALERT!!! Layla is a proverbial lap dog!

Layla has arrived ... we rescued her from a little further away than we normally do, in the Norman, OK area ... because she is super special and needed us! This little darling is a senior girl of 10 yrs old and only 8 lbs. We are calling her a Chihuahua mix. She has an incredibly sweet temperament and is loving life in her foster home, but of course, the goal is to find a new home to call forever, so let's get started!

Layla is a gentle, friendly and affectionate little couch potato! She naps a lot and is very easy going. Wait until you hear why her owner surrendered her to a kill shelter! Keep reading!

Layla has some skin issues we are working through, but these issues are due to neglect. Her hair growth is already occurring and her skin has calmed down a lot just in a few days! Keep in mind, many dogs have seasonal and/or environmental allergies, and when left unattended, the skin worsens and becomes itchy, raw and pink. Hair loss often occurs too, like with Layla. Her owner surrendered her because he didn't want to catch Leprosy from her. Now folks ... we all know this is not Leprosy. She doesn't have mange, as confirmed by our vet. She has hair loss due to over scratching because she has been so uncomfortable. Layla's skin allergies should be easily managed with either an over the counter Rx, or another vet-recommended Rx remedy. We will know more in the coming weeks as she just arrived to our program. We just need a little time to get a handle on her skin.

Otherwise, she is PERFECT. She is sweet, quiet, easy going, lap-like and happy to be at the party! Layla has been great with her foster dog siblings, no problems here. She is house trained and crate training, but our guess is that she won't need to be crated much. She is a smart, seasoned girl who knows the ropes about good doggie behavior inside the home. She is way past the puppy stage and isn't chewing or behaving inappropriately inside.

As you can see in her pics, Layla loves a soft, comfortable bed to "lay it all out" and nap. No shame here ... she is definitely comfortable. Her foster mom is enjoying her company and we continue to learn more and more about her daily.

She does have a mature cataract in her right eye, but the vision in her left eye is fine as examined by our vet. She doesn't need eye drops or anything for the cataract, so no worries here.

All in all, Layla is a little love. She needs a family who will be committed to her living out her golden years in a loving and caring home. She will love you unconditionally. Maybe it's with you.  Layla was born about June 2013.

Email us an application today about her and we will call you to discuss IF you meet the basic requirements mentioned in the very beginning of this bio.

Lola

Eligible applicants live within 30 mins of Tulsa, have a privacy fence,
a vet reference and dog experience. Lola will do best as the only pet
in the home (no cats/no dogs). We do not know how she would do with
kids so at this time, we would like to place her in an adult-only home.

Meet our Lola ... not a show girl, but a great girl! She is almost 3 and a half years old and 70 lbs as of 5/1/23. She is a true, scruffy terrier mix!

Lola has the most soulful eyes! Her foster family jokes that she looks like a human that was magically turned into a dog. True or not, she will cast her own spell on you!  Her unique look is easy to fall in love with. She is very friendly and shows affection by leaning her whole 70 lb body against your legs and rubbing back and forth. It’s hilarious! (She’s currently on a weight loss plan and has just a few pounds to go.)

Loal is the perfect age—past the adolescent mischief stage, but still playful and eager to learn. She bonds quickly with her people and has quite the animated personality! She is one of those dogs that will "talk" to you.   Rolling in leaves is one of her favorite activities along with gnawing on chew toys, walks, learning new training games, investigating tortoises, squirrel watching, and chilling out with her humans.

Lola also enjoys playing with other friendly dogs, but we are looking to place her in a home as the only dog because she doesn’t like to share her toys. She shares with humans just fine. She currently lives peacefully with other dogs in a foster home where there is supervision regarding toys and other items.  She loves to squirrel watch in the yard. One day, she may just catch one!  It seems she’s had a rough start in life but has embraced her good fortune since her rescue!

Lola has great house manners: she is house trained and crate trained. She likes to rest on the couch but will get down when asked. She’s been learning some new behaviors like sit, down, touch her nose to your hand, and rest quietly on a mat. We think she's pretty smart.  In general, Lola is calm and just happy to be where her people are. She is also perfectly content to be left alone.  Lola will do best when placed without a cat or cats in the home.  She was born about December 2019.

Email us an application today about her and we will call you to discuss IF you meet the basic requirements mentioned in the very beginning of this bio.

Mr. Lucky

To be eligible to apply, you must live within 30 mins of Tulsa, have a solid dog/vet reference, and a secure fenced-in yard.  Applicants also must have prior small dog breed experience. Lucky can be placed with other dogs his size or under 50 lbs, but no small children under the age of 8 please.

LAP DOG ALERT!!!  Meet our resident miniature werewolf ... Mr. Lucky! Doesn't he look like a little fuzzy werewolf? He is nothing like one though, in fact, just the opposite. Mr. Lucky, or "Lucky" as we call him, is as sweet as can be ... doesn't have a mean bone in his little 7 lbs body!  He is 7 yrs old and is a very good boy.
Let us tell you his story.   Our intake coordinator received a call from our groomer. Lucky's owner had died and a friend had been coming over to check on him for over a week. He was in dreadful condition, missing most of his hair from skin allergies and flea dermatitis. He was terribly red, itchy and very uncomfortable; poor guy!   We absolutely agreed to take him immediately, and off to the vet he went to be checked out, vaccinated and put on meds for his skin!

His front left leg has a birth deformity. You can see it turns out a bit, like he is standing in a ballerina position! Just know that it doesn't stop him from walks, play time or anything. He isn't in any pain and isn't on any medication for it, so please don't worry about this. We promise it's a non-issue and doesn't hurt or bother him.  Fast forward 9 weeks from intake and "ta da", his skin and coat are SOOOO much better now. The only place he is missing hair is on his neck and a little on his chest. He wears a harness a lot, so that's probably not helping, but he loves to go on walks. The rest of the hair on his body has grown in wonderfully. We are so pleased with this progress

Lucky's microchip indicates he originally came from the El Paso, Texas pound. His mom adopted him 6 years ago and moved to Oklahoma. She had him until she passed earlier this year. Lucky has been in our care since March, but we are now just posting him since we have been working on getting his coat to look better and feel better.

This little guy is a lover and a lap dog! He is friendly, affectionate, gentle, fun, loving, easy going and an absolute doll! He likes everyone he meets and is good with dogs his size or a little larger.  He is a GREAT eater and loves to snuggle on the couch with foster mom watching TV. He barks when he sees activity in the yard, or when someone comes to the door, but he is not a "yappy" dog. He may be suitable for apartment living  as he is also great on leash. He loves to go on walks and now that the weather is nicer, he is digging it big time!  Lucky is house trained and crate trained. He sleeps through the night in his crate and loves his bed time treat. He is currently on a fish-only diet to help with the allergies, so a few freeze dried fish crumbles at bed time is his favorite!

This little curious guy loves to explore in foster's yard and will occasionally play with a stuffed, squeaky toy. He is pretty laid back.  Lucky will require an owner who is willing to manage his skin allergies. Currently, he is getting a Cytopoint Injection once every 5 weeks at the vet. It is a non-steroidal remedy and is a game changer for him.   He is still getting medicated baths once a week and most of his hair has grown back in, except for around his neck and chest. This little scruffy guy is ready for someone to love him to the moon and back. He is so deserving of a calm and loving home. Maybe it's with you.  Lucky was born about March 2016.

Sammie

ELIGIBLE APPLICANTS must live within 30 minutes of Tulsa, have a dog/vet reference and secure fenced in yard. Sammie must be an ONLY DOG and placed in a
woman-only home with children over the age of 10. She is terrified of men and
other dogs. She will ignore a cat who ignores her.

WE ARE SEEKING A SPECIFIC HOME FOR SAMMIE; if your environment is not what we are describing for her, please pass on her. We are confident we know what this little darling girl needs in her life to feel safe, secure and happy.

Meet our darling female Shih Tzu named Sammie! This fluffy little girl is 8 years old and 13 lbs. Look at that darling face! OMG, we just want to squish it and kiss it! Sammie is a purebred Shih Tzu, so she is non shedding and hypoallergenic. She will require professional grooming. When Sammie feels comfortable, she is an amazing little dog, very sweet, friendly, affectionate and loving. It just takes her a minute to know you and feel like she can be herself with you.

Sweet Sammie's owner passed away and now she is looking for her new forever home. Her home must have been very quiet and calm. New things tend to scare her. She bonds quickly to women.  But ... Sammie is a good little girl. She is fine with women and older kids ages 10 and up, but is terrified of men. Therefore, we will only place her in a woman-only home. Sammie is also fearful of other dogs. She will just be her happiest as an only dog. We feel that it would be ok to place her in a home with a cat, as long as that cat generally ignores her.

Sammie is house trained and is learning about crate training. So far, so good on crating. It's not her favorite thing, but we are going slow. She can be left loose in the house, baby gated in a new environment until she learns the lay of the land. Her indoor doggie manners are very good, she is a good little girl!  As you can see, she rides well in a car when safely secured with a doggie seatbelt or crated. She knows "sit" and enjoys some toys like a hoof, a Kong and soft toys. She also enjoys walks and is decent on leash. Her all time favorite thing to do is to snuggle with you ... she can get up and down from the couch by herself and knows how to make herself comfortable there!

Sammie has a mild energy level, so she doesn't need a busy home. She will do best in a quiet, laid back environment again, as an only dog and no young children.  Email us an application today about her and we will call you to discuss IF you meet the basic requirements mentioned in the very beginning of his bio.

Sammie was born about February 2015.

Stitch

You must live within 30 mins of Tulsa, have a secure, privacy fenced in yard and a solid vet reference. Stitch MUST be placed with an existing dog in the applicant's home and no children under the age of 16.

Meet Stitch, our handsome and goofy male Labradoodle of almost 3 years old and 56 lbs.  Stitch is a non-shedding dog. He is still gaining weight and loves to eat! He is very food motivated, so he is easy to train with positive reinforcement methods, by using his kibble as treats!

Stitch is house trained and crate trained. He goes right into his crate and is quiet over night when he is near another dog. In fact, his crate is his "safe place", so he must have a crate in his new home for his den. He is like clock work when it comes to using his crate, it's amazing.

Some of his favorite things are playing with other dogs, and playing with other dogs, oh, and playing with other dogs! Yep, he LOVES to play with other dogs. His foster brother, Zeus is a favorite playmate! He can also play with dogs a little smaller, like between 20 - 40 lbs. When he plays and gets excited, he curls his upper lip up and pounces back and forth towards you. It's hysterical. It's like he is auditioning for an Elvis act! He has not learned how to wiggle his front leg through at the same time! LOL!! He gets very animated and is clearly having a great time!

He has seemed to ignore the cats at our vet's office, so he would likely be fine if there is a cat or two in the home too.

Once very comfortable in a new environment, he will occasionally pick up a Nyla bone and chew on it for a bit, but he hasn't shown too much interest in toys in general.  Stitch is not high energy, and he will chill out in the sun, or in the shade outside with his doggie playmate, or inside the house on a dog bed or cool tile floor. He has a "moderate" energy level.

Stitch's biggest challenge is his shy and timid temperament. He identifies with other dogs before people, which is why we will only place him in a home with another dog who will be his companion. In time, he will learn to trust and love his people, but he will require a patient owner and one with dog experience.

Stitch has been in a home with younger kids, but we would prefer to only place him in either an adult-only home, or in a home where the kids are older, 16 yrs and above.

Routine, professional grooming is a must. No home grooming for Stitch. He is great at the groomer but will need to go routinely as his hair is that doodle hair and will mat easily if not brushed often.

Stitch is healthy. He has been completely "vetted" and is on a heart-worm and flea tick prevention every month.  Stitch was born about June 2020.

Tasha

ADOPTION REQUIREMENTS: You must live within 30 mins of Tulsa,
have a solid vet reference and a secure fenced in yard. Please be advised that the fence type must be concrete block or a concrete barrier
or we may consider allowing her to live in an apartment setting
due to her digging/escaping ability.

Tasha came to us many years ago with a broken leg, likely due to being hit by a car. We were able to get her healed up and she was adopted to a home where she lived for the past 7 years. Recently, she was returned due to divorce and aging parents who needed the owner. So, Tasha is back with us in foster care.
Tasha is approximately 8 years old and 25 lbs We are calling her a terrier mix because we have no idea what her breed mixes really are! Her coat is soft but wirey in places. She is still active, playful and full of zest; no old doggy genes going on with this spry girl! She is extremely friendly, affectionate, sweet natured, happy, cuddly and wants to please her people. She just had a trim yesterday, to even her scruffy coat out. This girl is always wagging her tail, just a happy girl!  Her indoor doggie manners are great; she is house trained and crate trained. She minds well, knows "sit" and crates easily when asked. She is totally quiet overnight and will only bark when the other dogs do or when you first come home due to excitement.  She is also great with kids. We will cat test her soon as we haven't done that yet!

Tasha is excellent with other dogs of all sizes. She will engage with play and communicate well with them. Playing with toys is something she has started to do, but she needs "tough" toys, like any terrier. Nyla bones and Kongs are great though, and she sure loves them!  This girl loves to "squirrel watch" and to be outside. This is why her yard needs to be so very safe ... see the information below about her being an avid digger. She will stare and sit for a long time, waiting and watching for the next squirrel to move in the yard! She is very intense about her squirrel hobby!  Tasha is great on leash. She does pull some, but she LOVES to go on walks.  This girl is very healthy, but she does have some seasonal allergies. We are remedying those with the help of our vet with a monthly Cytopoint injection to help the itching.

Tasha's ONLY negative attribute is fence-line digging. She is very prone to dig out of any yard, regardless of how much attention she receives. It is something she has done since we found her 7 years ago. At her foster home, with the President of this rescue group ... she has even tried it there and almost got out! This yard is extremely secure so she is able to find any weak spot in the dirt to attempt her digging project. Because of this, and for obvious safety reasons, we will only place her in a setting we feel is truly safe for her; in an apartment setting where she will be on leash at all times when outside, OR in a yard where there is concrete block or a concrete border in the yard. RnRAF is willing to work with an approved adopter on this critical aspect of placing Tasha.  Tasha is a very special girl and we will place her carefully to make sure she lives a long, happy life with her new owner.

Tasha was born about April 2015.

Email us an application today about her and we will call you to discuss IF you meet the basic requirements mentioned in the very beginning of this bio.

Zeus

ELIGIBLE APPLICANTS must live within 30 mins of Tulsa,
have a secure PRIVACY or WROUGHT IRON
 fence
around the entire back yard, and a solid vet reference.

Here is our handsome boy, Zeus! This guy ... he is just an amazing dog! We love him so much. We just can't say enough wonderful things about him. This handsome hunk of love is a total goober and goofy boy. He makes us laugh daily! He is one of those dogs who you will never forget. He is one of those dogs who can change your life because he loves so much and will just be one with you as your life long companion. His smile and personality ... well, these pics say it all.

Just the sweetest boy ever,  Zeus is a 4 and a half year old American Bulldog mix of 74 lbs. This docile and loving boy was left to fend for himself in a neighborhood for two years.  Zeus was an owned pet at one time, from the time he was a puppy until about 2 years old, then poof, they moved and left him. He is short and stocky with a dapply patchwork of black dots under his white coat. Maybe he is a Jack Russell in disguise! LOL, just teasing!  This is one of those dogs we call resilient. Resilient to humans who don't care and who don't treat their pets like family members. He is forgiving, loving and simply an amazing dog.

Please note that we would like to place Zeus in a home with another dog. He loves them and he loves to play. In fact, he loves the ladies, so placing him in a home with a female playmate would be fantastic but he loves play time with male dogs too! It helps him to feel secure with another doggie in his life. A dog 30 lbs or more would be great for him!

Zeus is friendly and affectionate once he knows you. He is quicker to trust with women versus men, so that is an area we are still working on but have had some break throughs for sure! He has acclimated to his foster home very quickly and nicely. He is playful, animated and happy to be at the party!  He is house trained and crate trained. He loves sturdy chew toys like nyla bones or antlers. He has a great appetite and eats in his crate twice a day, finishing every kibble in his bowl. He loves treats too.

He is fine with small, medium and large sized dogs, but due to his size, he will play safest with a dog 30 lbs and up!

Zeus is also fine with cats. He is a gentle boy. Actually, Zeus thinks he is about 20 lbs. He would love to cuddle with you on the couch and he leans on you for love. We keep telling him he is a tad larger than 20 lbs!  He has not been around young children, but dog savvy kids who are a little older would be fine with him. Zeus is healthy and up to date on all vaccines, fecal exam, he is neutered and microchipped.

Check him out today, trust us, he won't disappoint!  Zeus was born about April 2018.
