Dogs For Adoption

Cowboy

To be eligible to apply, you must live within 30 mins of Tulsa,
have a solid vet reference, and a secure fenced-in yard,

Yeehaw, meet Cowboy, our classic male Australian Cattle Dog, otherwise known as a Heeler! It was easy to name this stud as he is perfect cowboy material! This breed makes a great family pet! They are smart, compact, muscular, loyal and brave. Cowboy's gorgeous coat is tri-color with some blue merle. This city slicker is true to his breed! As of 9/16/23, he is almost 2 and a half yrs old and weighs 56 lbs.

Cowboy is playful, active, curious, smart and athletic. He definitely loves to play and interact with other dogs and people (both men and women). Cowboy loves attention! He is funny and makes his foster family laugh all the time, he is always one step ahead of them and ready for the action!

He is currently in a foster home with a labradoodle and a smaller shih tzu mix. He does well with both of them but is younger and stronger than they are ... he can play and play and play. Zoomies are a common hobby too; he is so beautiful when he runs around the yard.

Cowboy is smart and is food motivated, so he is easy to train. He learns everything very quickly. He would thrive in a formal training class, or maybe even some fun agility learning. Placing him in a home where he can be walked or exercised is important for this breed, so keep that in mind. A well exercised dog is a happy dog! Walks, hiking, learning to play frisbee or playing ball in the yard are all great activities for Cowboy!

Cowboy is leash trained, house trained and crate trained - told ya he was smart!

He has not been cat tested yet and we have not exposed him to small children yet but he has a great temperament so we sense he would do well with older kids, perhaps age 10 and up. We will cat test him soon!

Overall, this buckaroo is a great dog. Maybe it's time to check him out and ride off into the sunset with your new Cowboy dog ... he won't disappoint you and will love you forever! Cowboy will make a great family pet with or without another dog.

Cowboy was born about March 2021.

Ginger

ADOPTION REQUIREMENTS: You must live within 30 mins of Tulsa,
have a solid vet reference, a secure fenced in yard
and prior small breed experience.  No exceptions, please.  Ginger will do best when placed in a home with another dog for companionship

Meet Ginger, our precious female Jack Russell/Italian Greyhound mix of 8 years old and 19 lbs. Isn't her little face darling? And those eyes, so gentle. Let us tell you about this little brindle girl.  She is a great size ... not too big and not too small. She is gentle, sweet, quiet, loyal and becomes affectionate and more friendly once she knows and trusts here people.

You see, Ginger was living in rural Oklahoma, fending for herself. An amazing animal advocate found her along with some of her four legged friends and started saving them one by one. But, Ginger wasn't alone, she had three of her puppies with her! Imagine being a mom and having your three kids, trying to figure it out every day on the streets! UGH! The good news is that her puppies were saved and Ginger is doing great, is healthy and ready for her new home too. She has adapted to indoor living quite well. She is a survivor - smart and intuitive to her surroundings.

We think she is a Jack Russell/Italian Greyhound mix. She is on the shorter side and is compact. Her coat is short and tight, her face is beginning to gray as she ages and her little ears crinkle over at the top creating a soft and innocent facial expression. She has a low to medium energy level, but she does really like to play with other dogs. Our hope is to find the best matched home where an existing, playful dog provides companionship for her in her new life.  She has not been cat tested yet and we will only place her with in a home where the children are older and dog savvy.   Bonus, this girl IS housetrained. Foster mom does crate her when she is not home and she has become accustomed to her crate training.

Ginger loves to snuggle under a blanket and cuddle on the couch with her foster mom at TV time. If she isn't on the couch, you will find her in a dog bed, snoozing away.  Ginger enjoys squeaky toys and scatters them about the back yard and plays with them intermittently. She also likes the Virbac dental chews ... she would likely be a great candidate for a stuffed kong or other enrichment toy to keep her busy and satisfied when the mood strikes!  Her prey drive is on target and loves to chase birds and squirrels in the back yard. She has also been known to get the zoomies and run around like crazy to burn some steam!

Ginger is shy at first, but will adapt over time to a patient, dog savvy and loving home. She has been through a lot, but has also come a long way during her introduction to a normal life these past four months.  Clearly, living at large didn't allow her to have any leash training, so that is a work in progress. She is happiest in her home surroundings where she feels safe and sound as opposed to being out and about all the time. We are sure that will come in time!  Ginger is a good eater and eats twice a day on a regimented schedule. She has learned her routine well while in foster care.  Time to think about saving a great dog in need. We appreciate you considering her!

Ginger was born about March 2016.

Email us an application today about her and we will call you to discuss IF you meet the basic requirements mentioned in the very beginning of this bio.

Sugar Bear Freddy

You must live within 30 mins of Tulsa, have a secure,
fenced in yard and a solid vet reference.

WHERE IS HIS RETIREMENT HOME??

Meet Sugar Bear Freddy ... sweet as can be!!! This old man is estimated to be between 10-11 years old and he is finally at a healthy weight of 65 lbs.  No one calls us about him, which is so sad, because he is such a GOOD DOG! We would love to find a place for him to live out his golden years!

This guy is happy, friendly, affectionate, funny, gentle, laid back and ready for some serious love. Just look at his pictures, he is always smililng, when he isn't sleeping! Such a doll, he is so happy to be living a new, good life! He is good with everyone he meets.

Let us tell you a little bit about him ...  This boy is good with his foster brother, but we have decided he will do best as the only pet in the home, so no other dogs and definitely no cats. We have tried.

As far as kids are concerned, he should be fine with children who will show him respect and kindness as an older gent.  Sugar Bear Freddy is house trained and crate trained. He actually has excellent inside doggie manners. He enjoys sunning himself outside or resting in the shade. Just because he is laid back and likes to nap, he has a lot of life left in him, so don't let his age of 9 fool you at all!  He will keep you smiling daily, his temperament is amazing. He is just a sweetheart. Please, consider him today. We will move a mountain for him to be loved and find a new family.  Sugar Bear Freddy was born about April 2014
